As a Midwesterner, I am shocked and ashamed at the pathetic number of real deal donut shops at my disposal. The very few I know about were either discovered by accident, or passed on to me in secret, as though they were some kind of treasure only meant to be shared with the truly deserving. One of my resolutions for 2009 was to eat more donuts, a goal that I think we can all agree is both righteous and attainable. In order to eat the donuts, one must first find the donuts so I'm dedicating this page to my quest. Over the next several months I hope to create a comprehensive list of every worthwhile donut shop in the United States - but I can't do it alone. I need your help. Look over my list, gasp in horror when you do not find your favorite donut shop noted and then email me at DisForDonut@gmail.com with the shop name, a link to their website (if they have one), their phone number and address. If you have original photos to contribute send those as well. I have made the executive decision to exclude Dunkin Donuts and Krispie Kremes from my database because you can just go on their stupid websites and find one anywhere. Mister Donuts are not excluded because they're harder to find.
